Our beautiful mosaic celebrating 50 years of Delco Literacy now has a permanent home in our reception area! This stunning piece was created during our Mosaic 2025 fundraiser this spring by our amazing event guests.

A huge thank you to Jessica Liddell from @bellamosaicart for facilitating this collaborative piece and helping our supporters literally piece together their support for literacy in our community. Every colorful tile represents the impact we make together! We’re so proud to display this symbol of community partnership every day.
The Artistry of Collaboration
This isn’t just a mosaic—it’s a visual metaphor for literacy work itself. Just as each colorful tile contributes to the complete picture, every reading lesson, every volunteer hour, and every donation builds toward comprehensive literacy support in your community. The rainbow of colors radiating from the central Delco Literacy logo mirrors how literacy skills radiate outward, touching every aspect of a person’s life and spreading throughout families and neighborhoods.
A Living Timeline
The “50 Years” banner represents half a century of transformed lives—thousands of adults who’ve gained the confidence to read to their children, secure better employment, or simply navigate daily life with dignity. Each tile placed by our fundraiser guests connected to this legacy, creating a bridge between past achievements and future possibilities.
The Power of Hands-On Engagement
By having supporters physically participate in creating this artwork, we’ve given them ownership in our mission that goes beyond financial contribution. Every time they visit our reception area, they’ll see their handiwork and remember why literacy matters.
Daily Inspiration
Positioned in our reception area, this mosaic serves multiple purposes: it welcomes students with a visual representation of community support, reassures them that they’re part of something beautiful and valued, and reminds staff daily of the broad base of community partnership that makes their work possible.
This piece truly embodies how individual contributions create something greater than the sum of its parts—exactly what adult literacy education does for communities.
