About Adult Basic Education (ABE)

Adult Basic Education (ABE) includes basic reading, writing, and math skills. ABE literacy tutors may also cover computer skills, job-related skills, and other material generated from the adult student’s specific goals.

ABE Services Available

Free tutoring and small-group instruction are available for adults who need ABE instruction. Tutoring occurs twice a week at a public location agreed upon by the tutor and student, such as a local library. Daytime and evening meeting times are available.

To Become a Student

Interested adults must register in person during New Student Intake at Delaware County Literacy Council, 2217 Providence Avenue, Chester PA 19013. Please call 610.876.4811 to learn the dates of the next New Student Intake. NOTE: Online learning is currently being offered. Register here.
