About English as a Second Language (ESL)
English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction helps immigrants seeking to learn English.
ESL classes and activities encourage adult students to speak English through English immersion and by bringing together students with diverse languages and cultural backgrounds.
ESL Services Available
Free ESL classes for adults, including citizenship preparation classes, are available during the day and evening. Please note: Any student with an F-1 Visa is prohibited from enrolling in DCLC classes, which are funded by the PA Division of Adult Education. Classes are held twice a week either online or at various locations, such as Upper Darby and Chester. Once enrolled, students must attend all classes.
Free tutoring and small-group instruction are available for adults needing ESL instruction. Tutoring occurs twice a week either remotely or at a public location agreed upon by the tutor and student, such as a local library. Daytime and evening meeting times are available.
